what we’re making

We’re making the Layered Patch Blanket by crocheting each of the 13 colourful layers on top of each other. There’s no joining of patches required at the end.

You have the option to make the Layered Patch Blanket with super chunky yarn or 10ply / worsted weight yarn. The size of the blanket is the same with the different sized yarns, with the size and number of the stitches varying. The super chunky version has bigger stitches that are easier to crochet.

The stitches in the rows vary throughout each layer with the focal point being the beautiful V’s that mark the end of one layer and the start of the next.

skill level – easy

This pattern uses simple stitch patterns and if you’ve done some crocheting before then you’ll be able to make it.

You will learn how to:

  • crochet through the back bar of a stitch
  • do a double crochet through the front loop only (UK terminology) / single crochet through the front loop only (US terminology)

It will help if you know how to:

  • make a slip knot and do chain stitches
  • crochet double crochet (UK terminology) / single crochet (US terminology) stitches
  • count your rows and stitches
  • check your tension / gauge / length of the row
  • fasten off, weave in ends and finish off your crocheting
