what we’re making

We’re crocheting the Happy Patch Blanket by making 12 patches and then joining them together at the end.

You have the option to make the Happy Patch Blanket with either super chunky yarn or 10ply / worsted weight yarn. The size of the blanket and its patches are the same, with the size of the stitches varying. The super chunky version has bigger stitches that are easier to crochet.

The patches repeat the same stitch over and over again, and if you’ve never crocheted before I’ll explain exactly what to do so you can succeed at making your beautiful blanket.

skill level – beginner / basic

This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and is suitable for learning to crochet. You don’t need to have done any crocheting before as I will show you exactly what to do.

You will learn how to:

  • start crocheting by doing a slip knot and making chain stitches
  • make double crochet (UK terminology) / single crochet (US terminology) stitches, as well as doing them through the front loop only
  • count your rows and stitches
  • check your tension / gauge / length of the row
  • fasten off, weave in ends and finish off your crocheting
  • slip stitch to join the patches and do the border
